These skills would increase the threat level of a character by a certain amount, letting tank classes keep aggro without needing to be heavy damage dealers themselves. It also implemented a level of responsibility upon damage dealers to manage the amount of DPS they were putting out. Often this lead to death, unless the healer of the party was quick on their feet.
The boss monsters are actively moving about the battlegrounds and picking on several players at a time, meaning that people need to be quick on their feet in case they catch aggro so that they can move away. Some mobs aggro to closest player the most common aggro in open world.
So, even though someone else triggered the proximity, when they run past you, the mob now only sees you. Raids were given the trinity. So, for raids, highest toughness will nearly always maintain aggro. I have tested on the same mob with multiple classes in identical gear and have also noticed that some mobs target certain classes first every time. The game seems to have some overriding aggro protocols, but they are almost as random as the drops.

Good hunting! Posted by: Dawdler. Mobs generally target the player with the highest armor, ie the tank. If you dont want to tank, dont equip tanky gear. Simple as that. Posted by: Ashen. You probably dont have the most toughness out of every single player in the game. You certainly do not pull aggro from every player in the game. I can join group events halfway through and the boss if possible will target me immediately and not target anyone else.

For the first 20 levels or so my pet would always draw aggro and I could pepper my foes in peace. But now in the mid 20's I'm starting to get enemies that keep trying to focus me. Is it because of the specific enemy type I'm fighting annoying risens for example?
Or is it because I'm doing too much damage and they take me to be a bigger threat? I know there's a skill that makes my pet draw aggro, but I've never had to use it before.. Thank you!
