After her continuing success as a singer Ross began an acting career in film and on television and Broadway. She did not win that award, however, she did win a Golden Globe Award for her performance. Through her career she had twelve Grammy award nominations, however she never won the coveted award. In , she started a relationship with Motown chief Berry Gordy.
It lasted several years, and she gave birth to their child, Rhonda Suzanne Silberstein, in Two months into her pregnancy with Rhonda, she married music executive Robert Ellis Silberstein, who raised Rhonda as his own daughter.
