I have […]. I would like your suggestion as I am planning on making green bean poriyal for about people- I am just planning to add coconut when I warm up the beans for the gathering. The gathering is in 1 month so please let me know if this method will work. Lakshmi, Ofcourse you can freeze poriyals but its for our own convenience something like a temporary arrangement.
Frozen foods has its own downfalls too right?? When you prepare for a big crowd or gathering it is advisable to prepare fresh. All you have do is saute the onion and garlic and throw in a big pack of frozen cut beans and garnish with coconut. This will only take about minutes and you can make this a day ahead, refrigerate and reheat in the microwave. My 2 cents! Can anyone suggest if we can freeze milk based mithai like barfi, ladu in the freezer.
I would definitely think you can freeze milk and yogurt based dishes because I know several people freeze whole gallons of plain milk and its fine plus I freeze my milk in ice cube trays for my coffee every morning! If still not sure make a mini meal and freeze then you can see how you like it for yourself : …hope this helps.. Generally when i store any food item in a ziploc cover..

Start small, experimenting with one dish for a week. Freshness of food depends entirely on timing The quality and freshness depends on when you freeze or refrigerate the food after cooking. Wait for it to cool down to room temperature, and then freeze, to retain its freshness, says Shenoy.
Put meals in serving-size containers Nambiar uses plastic containers for freezing, and air-tight containers for refrigeration of diced vegetables. For easier access and less time spent on thawing, pack meals into serving-size boxes, each for one day. You can also get reusable, colour-coded meal-prep boxes online. According to Shenoy, zip-lock bags and wraps help consume lesser energy. But remember, the containers and bags must be air-tight to ensure longer shelf-life. Avoid using glass as it does not freeze well.
Get your pens and stickers out to label the food Mention what the dish is, the date it was made and the day it is to be consumed. If there are multiple people, label the food by names. Also, mention any heating, thawing or consumption instructions.
It is important to consume food within five days of making it. Avoid eggs, chapati, milk-based dishes Chapati, roti and such items tend to harden when they're refrigerated and reheated. Considering Indian power cuts, would you suggest freezing? I mean, can the food stay good with hours of power cuts it may get partially thawed? Power cut is a big problem for freezing food. If you know power cuts will happen, then my suggestion is not to freeze food. Can we freeze almost everything we cook?
Even the ones with tomatoes as one of the ingredients? I am not a specialist of freezing. I did my research on the things that I planned to cook as to seeing if they can be frozen or not. Please do your research based on what you plan to cook.
